Edmonton, April 24, 2024 – The FPFA is proud to announce the appointment of members to the Horizon Committee. This committee stands as a central pillar for the development of French-language childhood educational services, with a dedicated team committed to actively promoting and supporting the needs of francophone children in our province.
The Horizon Committee will assume a provincial leadership role for childhood educational services with a mission to promote and support the development of French-language childcare services in Alberta by assisting parents and childhood professionals in fostering the identity construction of the child and their family. Among its responsibilities, the Committee will ensure the implementation of a provincial strategic plan aimed at creating a welcoming, caring, nurturing, inclusive, and safe French-language educational environment focused on the overall interests and needs of children from birth to 12 years old.
The dedicated and passionate members comprising the Horizon Committee embody the diversity and richness of our community. These parents and childhood professionals have generously volunteered their time and skills to guide future initiatives and strategies to ensure quality educational access for all francophone children in Alberta.
The six members appointed to serve on the Horizon Committee are:

Josée Bélanger – Airdrie
Cynthia Ouimet – Beaumont
Maryse Champagne – Fort McMurray
Sandrine Séa – Edmonton
Roxanne Fluet, FPFA Board Representative (Northern Region)
Pilar Buitrago, FPFA Board Representative (Southern Region)
With the launch of this committee, the FPFA embarks on an exciting new journey in its commitment to francophone education.
