Edmonton, April 21, 2026 — The Fédération des parents francophones de l’Alberta (FPFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Vachon-Chabot as Executive Director. She will join the team on May 19, 2026, to ensure a transition period with the outgoing Executive Director.
This appointment follows the departure of Mireille Péloquin, who will leave her position on May 29 after fifteen years at the helm of the organization. FPFA’s Board of Directors wishes to highlight her remarkable contribution to the growth of Alberta’s Francophone community and to the defence of the rights of Francophone parents in Alberta. Her leadership has left a lasting mark on the organization.
A Career Rooted in Alberta’s Francophone Community
Amy Vachon-Chabot brings to this role both a personal and professional background deeply rooted in Alberta’s Francophone community. Having completed her entire education in French — from kindergarten to Grade 12, in Grande Prairie and Edmonton — and as a graduate of Campus Saint-Jean, she reflects the realities of the families FPFA represents every day.
Ms. Vachon-Chabot holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta, with a specialization in Canadian and Albertan politics, political communications, and Francophone affairs. Her professional path reflects a sustained commitment to the community: she has worked as a freelance journalist for Le Franco, as a coordinator at ACFA, and as an events coordinator for the Fédération du sport francophone de l’Alberta and the Fête franco-albertaine. These experiences led her to work closely with Francophone and French immersion school communities.
From 2020 to 2026, she held several strategic positions at ACFA, culminating in her roles as Assistant Executive Director and Director of Government Strategies. In these positions, she played a key role in developing the very first Action Plan for Alberta’s Francophonie and worked directly with FPFA in its efforts to expand Francophone childcare services in Alberta.
“FPFA’s Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Amy Vachon-Chabot to the position of Executive Director. Her background, her in-depth knowledge of Alberta’s Francophone community, and her understanding of the realities faced by Francophone families make her exceptionally well suited to carry FPFA’s mission forward. We are confident that she will lead the organization with rigour, vision, and commitment,” said Geneviève Savard, President of FPFA.
“I am excited to take on this new role at the Fédération des parents francophones de l’Alberta. Access to French-language education, from early childhood through post-secondary, is essential to ensuring the vitality of Alberta’s Francophone communities. As a graduate of this education system myself, I understand the tremendous impact it has had on my Francophone identity and my desire to be part of the Francophone community. I look forward to supporting Francophone parents across the province in their commitment to passing on the French language and Francophone cultures to their children, and to upholding their rights guaranteed under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms,” said Amy Vachon-Chabot.
